Oil additives

With regard to oil additives and their effectiveness, don't forget we have
CAFE here in the states. (Corporate Average Fuel Economy -- The fed's mandate
that an automakers fleet has to average a certain mpg, so for every truck
Dodge makes with a V-10 that gets 8 mpg they must also make 5 Neons that get
38 mpg in order to reach the magic number, somewhere around 28-30 I think)
Given this, and the fact that in such a highly competitive industry most
automakers would sell their own grandmother for an extra 1-2 mpg, doesn't it
make sense that if any of these products did anything even close to what they
claim then every new car sold in this country would have Prolong or Slick 50
it it?
