Bob....If you hold a piece of dry ice (available at big dairies) against
the drain plug (using tongs, don't touch the stuff) it will shrink the
diameter of the plug, perhaps enough to allow removal with a sturdy box
wrench.

I think I would do it while the engine is hot, because that would expand
the threaded inlet to the pan, which would make the diameter of the drain
hole larger.

You ought to be able to cool the plug while the wrench is on it, if you use
a thin box wrench.

This combination of heat and cold is my best shot. And I don't think it is
dangerous.
