Mt. Washington
Yes, it was a near perfect day......I was stationed for the race at the
"jump" and must say that the jumps this year were far more spectacular
than last year. Hopefully, I got some good pics. If ANYONE sees the
video taken from the helicopter of us at the jump, let me know if they
showed the banner we made....Audi+Speedvision=Mt. Washington. They did
pan us and shots were taken by the newspaper photographers of us all
waving to the drivers with our banner as they paraded down. Sprongl
especially liked the banner coming down on his first run and gave us a
double thumbs up.
Ray did well, considering the Mitsubishi (his backup car because the
Saleen was NOT ready after 6 months of rebuilding) was not up to race
preparedness as it was the last time we ran it.....and was grossly
misclassed this time....He was pleased he ran as well as he did. Maybe
our wish for a killer 2wd Coupe GT will be real next year.
As for Chris Sanborn....his car was not as bad looking at the bottom as
it was when one saw it in the trees.....yes, he is quite lucky and yes,
it is totalled, but he can salvage a ton of stuff. It was quite a
reality check for him. He DID have tears in his eyes and caressed that
clock after Paul Royal awarded him the perserverence award. All he kept
saying to me was "Gawd, I'm here to get this, I never knew I had so many
friends."
Thanks Stott for riding home with him.
Thanks to all the Audi fans who stopped by our paddock to say hi. Yes,
though we raced a Mitsubishi, we had 3 Q's at the hill and made our
presence known. Ray really appreciated the support he got from ALL of
you.
Paul, you did a great job and yes, THE SHIRTS!!!! are AWESOME! BTW, I
wore mine to qualifying for IRL at NHIS on Sat. Scott Sharp noticed it
and was most impressed.
Take care.
