same thing happened to my 87.5 special build gtw/ cis-eIII. replacing 
distributer did cure that problem, but my fault code download suggested 
that the ignition ctrl unit might have also been the problem. check that 
last, as its an expensive part. First check rpm sender at belhousing.  
Then hall effect sender (if not in distributer).  Sorry but this is all 
I can think of at the moment.  If I can come up with anything else I 
will let you know.
