RE: 93 S4 power lock problem

Thanks Oyvind! Per Phil's request for resolution:

Oyvind was correct- disconnecting power does reset the power lock/alarm
system.

I had one major problem with just disconnecting the battery- since I bought
the S4 used, I have no idea what the radio code is. The advantage of the
following procedure is that you don't have to reprogram any of the
accessories (radio, power seats, etc.) IMHO, the following is procedure is
actually quicker. Details apply to a 93 S4, YMMV:

1) Jump the car using the convenient posts in the engine compartment. This
keeps power supplied to all other accessories while the battery is out.

2) Pull the rear seat, and disconnect and remove the battery. You have to
pull the battery to get at the alarm module- it's hidden in a foam
enclosure to the right of the battery.

3) Extract and disconnect the alarm/power lock control module. The central,
purple connector is power per the Bentley- it was actually easier to
disconnect all of the connectors as the power connection was somewhat
buried. Leave it unconnected for a few minutes just to be safe (no idea
whether any real delay is necessary)

4) Reconnect alarm/lock module and test. If all is well, reassemble. If
not, the alarm control module is probably bad.

	HTH-

	Steve
