How many people....do you think would check the validity of the service
history? I would much rather see a handful of receipts than a book full of
pretty stamps."

Seems to me one could just call a couple of the dealers that have stamps in
the book and explain the situation and ask them to verify that they did that
particular service. Might work, might not.
On that note, I'm selling my '86 4000 CS Quattro, with 159k and all the
little stamps in the book. The car is white with red leather, 5 speed, runs
good, looks good, needs rear wheel bearings and one warped front rotor
replaced, but that will be done by the end of the week. Asking $3000 or best
offer. The car is in the northern Va./ Washington DC area. E'mail me, or
call (703) 912-9658 (before 10:30 pm eastern time please). I'm only selling
because I recently got a 90 Quattro, and that brings me up to 5
cars...something's got to go.
Thanks
