Thanks for the machine shop idea, that sounds pretty smart and
affordable.  I don't think you'd be able to use any of the
original holes, though, because then you'd be shifting the
center of the bolt circle and would end up with a lop-sided
axis of rotation.  Just drilling new holes evenly spaced in
between the original ones should do the trick...

Sorry for my ignorance of the setup of FWD 4000s.  What about
the idea of Coupe or 85-87 Quattros?  Do those have a 4x108
bolt pattern as well?

Also, I wrote to BLAUfergnugen and asked if they had
cross-drilled rotors for my 4ksq that were 4x100... still
waiting for the response.  It would be nice to upgrade to
those at the same time as changing the bolt pattern.
