Try this - go get 2 large vise grips and a 14" pipe wrench. Jack up the car
and clamp them as tightly as possible to the strut shaft through the
spring. Take the pipe wrench and affix it to the large dished washer under
the strut nut. With these three you can hold the strut enough to break
torque on the nut. Afterwards you can use the pipe wrench to loosen the cap
for the cartridge.
