Re: Heater core + ?

Hi Mike:

I picked up my car last night, after they replaced the blower motor, and of
course the heater core. I had them fix the ventilation flap/door that's
underneath the dash too. I asked that they check the hoses and authorized
replacement if they thought necessary.

Since I wasn't charged for any hoses, I suppose they didn't replace them.
Now, that can either mean the hoses were OK, or, the mechanic thinks I'll be
back when they do break. From what you said, it seems easy enough to do at
home.

I didn't know to ask about the heater valve you mentioned. Can I get to it
from the engine side, under the wipers and black Audi trip piece? I know
about Audi's penchant for plastic cooling parts....I've had the radiator
replaced because of its plastic neck. [Unfortunately, it was done pre-Qlist
with a factory, plastic radiator :-( ].

I seem to have a love/hate relationship with Hoehn. This time I felt I got a
good value for my money. They gave me a free loaner car, washed the car and
wet-vacuumed the carpet where the coolant spilled. Audi was billed to
replenish the differential (TSO) and they took care of the airbag recall.
(Hmmm). They also gave me their discounted "800#" prices for both parts they
installed, even though I only ordered one through their hotline.

I think what bothers me about dealers are their prices for simple things, such
as reading the fault codes, etc. Before I learned how via the Qlist, it was a
$60.00 charge!

I can't wait to get my own Bentley's!!!

Thanks for your help.
