Re: DEER!
#1, My blood pressure only goes up when somebody pulls a stupid
stunt behind the wheel, like DUI. Otherwise, I could really care
less what some "tree hugger" as I call them thinks. As long as
people don't try to infringe on my rights, they can do whatever
they want to.
#2,I am a VERY good driver, my stint in the Military Police helped
immensely. I have managed to avoid hitting many an obstacle that
my fiance believes she would have hit, due to my fast reflexes and
great instincts. The tree hugger bit refers to people who believe it
is cruel to hunt deer, for whatever reason. Deer hunting serves a
very crucial purpose, both in the general world and in the suburbs.
If not for deer hunting, the deer population in the US would explode
out of control, creating disease and starvation for the deer herds.
I wonder if all those "tree huggers" as I call them would be so
quick to stop driving their cars if they found out that autos kill
more deer in the US each year than all the hunters combined. That
is why some tree hugger should pay for repairs, deer need to be
thinned out, and anybody who opposes that can dig into their
pocket book and foot the bill for the rest of us. Deer stay in a very
small area, unless their food supply is short. If their food supply
is short, they will expand the area they travel, thereby exposing
them to situations they are not familar with, ie roadways, if this
happens, then obviously, there is an over population in that area.
By the way, I don't believe that I have any "right" to the road.
The first statement of my original post was humor, you know,
something you are supposed to chuckle at in understanding because
it may have also happened to you. As you stated,
it doesn't matter where you drive, you will always have unexpected
objects "jump" into your path, whether it be a piece of trash out of
the bed of the pickup in front of you on the highway, or a child from
between parked cars.
Oh, and your bit about "being 100% responsible for what your car hits,
always and everywhere", NOT! Just recently I was driving my father's
Regal (with ABS) and some old lady pulled up to an exit of a parking
lot, stopped, and then proceeded out into the roadway before ensuring
it was clear. I observed her pull up and stop while I was still far enough
away to do something if she hadn't stopped. There was nothing I could
do, however, when she pulled out DIRECTLY in front of me. Needless
to say, her insurance company is paying EVERY BILL (car repair, doctor,
etc.)
Just my opinion! (and a few facts too)
