Two Audis in 'Car of the century'
Hi all,
I've just read an article describing the 'Car of the century' exhibition
that's currently touring the world(?) (having left Amsterdam last week).
You go to a show where you look at some hundred of the most influential
cars of the century, and vote for your favourite. Among the well-known
candidates (Ford model T, VW Beetle) ar two Audis- the UrQ and the A8/S8.
Nice.
BTW Returning from a birthday party at my parents' at 1AM today, I noticed
a police car coming towards me as I drove into Zeist. I saw the car doing a
u-turn in my mirror and then follow me. I was driving just below the limit
at the time- hard rain and low visibility. I expected them to show the
'Police stop' sign and pull me over for a checkup on my registration and
drivers licence, but instead they drove close behind me for the entire way
to my home, about 5 miles.I could see them looking at my licence plate
while I was at the traffic light, and one of them was using his CB. Hmmm...
as I turned left to my place, they drove straight on. I bet they wouldn't
have done that if I'd still be driving my old 80. There's something to be
said for a low-profile car...
Tom
PS I agree on the Design Museum being one of the 'must-see' places in
London. And not only for their car collection.
