RE: experiences with urq throwout bearings
Yes, 1000s of miles with a noisy t-out bearing on a 4KQ. Was still howling away just fine when I finally replaced the clutch and trans (2nd gear was non-syncro). Be prepared for it to leave you walking when it is least convenient. The 87 5KTQW's t-out bearing only lasted ~200 miles after it got noisy and failed at the 6 mile mark on Mt. Washington...

Subject: experiences with urq throwout bearings
All,
I've got a noisy throw out bearing in my '85 urq. As many of you know it's one of those jobs that is very involved and numerous
parts along the way may as well be replaced too. It is a job that I am not equipped to do in my garage because I don't think I can get it far enough off the ground to remove the tranny nor do I have the time right now. The shop I have work on my cars on those rare occasions when I don't estimates parts and labor to be $1100-1200. That would be on top of the $2600 I just spent.
My question is what experiences have you all had with throw out bearings? Mine is noisy but the clutch pedal is smooth. Anyone driven thousands of miles with a noisy throw out bearing? Any info, experiences or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Anton
