I'd have to agree here with Phil, that our watered-down Pilsners barely
qualify as "beer".
However, Phil may not know about the microbrewery phenomenon that has swept the
country. Virtually any city of 1/4 million or more (annd maybe some smaller)
have local firms and/or taverns making their own porters, stouts, ales, and
more. REAL beer, with flavors that engage the mind as well as the tongue. Plus,
there are some large firms making nationally distributed stuff that's great
(like Samuel Adams, Pete's Wicked Ale).
However, some of us *still* like it cooled to close to 0 deg C (although
I wouldn't do that to a Guinness or a LaBelle Strasse-Bourgeois). Just depends
on the beer (the coldness increases the "bite" of the natural carbonation).
Is Fat Tire a pilsner, or an ale? Anyone know? -Doug Q
