Another thing to check would be that you actually have the correct bulbs in
there.  When I bought my car, the PO had installed an amber blinker light
in the front left.  The blinker wouldn't work if the lights were on.  After
an hour or two, I found it.  Replaced it with the correct bulb and it's
worked fine ever since....
