Blue headlights?

Why blue/white headlights? They aren't really brighter, just more
dazzling because of the way they reflect and scatter inside the eye.
Shorter wavelength light tends to scatter more easily; lights up fine
particles like haze, fog, snow, and mist from wet tires better; dazzles
oncoming drivers more; reduces contrast; impairs night vision; all kinds
of bad ju-ju. Amber fog lights, blue reflective optical lenses, "Blue
Blocker" sunglasses, and red cockpit lighting are all attempts to keep
the blue end of the optical spectrum away from your eyes, especially at
night. The blue/white does look cool, if that's your priority.
Sorry for the rant, this used to be my field.
