Re: ur-quattro air conditioning question
Anton,
I'd be interested in seeing what other answers you get. I never shut off
my air conditioning because the oil never gets that hot. Of course, I
haven't driven it at 112 deg ambient lately.
I used to get very high oil temp readings. I have since completely rewired
the gauge cluster to give it a much better ground. I then replaced the
aftermarket gauge with one from a coupe, complete with the oil-pump temp
sender matched to the gauge (there are 2 different temp ranges, and the
gauge and sender must match to be accurate). Note that you can't use the
oil-pump sender with an aftermarket gauge.
My readings are much more stable now, usually just above 100 deg. That's
with Castrol Syntec 5W-50.
