Hmm... makes me wonder what the deal is with my '87 VW Quantum Syncro. It
being a hybrid VW/Audi, and probably more Audi than VW, it probably isn't
galvanized. I suspect that it isn't because mine has a few rust spots here
and there (especially at the corners of the front doors, where I'm told
rust is typical....).
Given your statement above about VW galvanizing '85 (and later?) models, I
have to wonder if Audi actually built the Quantum Syncros for VW. Or were
they assembled by VW, with Audi parts? Anyone know for sure?
