Norway, my favorite country! Good to hear from a lister almost "back
home".
I have a 1989 100 but no quattro or turbo, so take these comments for
twhat they are.
Problem areas:
Leaking transmission (about $200 USD to fix properly)
Leaking hydraulic system (pump, rack)
Bad bomb (but seems to be much rarer i.e. in Sweden, colder climate
nicer on components?
Timing belt
CV boots and joints
A/C and/or controller
Front disc brakes
Hand brake cable that get stuck in colder weather, not releasing rear
brakes
Small lever on the inside of front door lock cylinders (replace aluminum
with steel one)
Headliner that might start to fall down due to high sun exposure (less
likely back home)
Make sure you get a car with ABS (mine does not have it)
And then of course all the "normal" stuff like oils, coolant, check
front of hood for paint chips, check side of rims to determine how car's
been driven (lot of scrathes likely not so careful driver).
Just a few, you'll probably get tons from other listers. These are just
some that I'd check now that I've had mine for a few years. The Audis
are so much cheaper here in the US than back home, probably half the
price or less compared to Sweden.
