Further, has anyone tryed to replace the rear brakes' load sensing 
proportioning valve ("brake pressure regulator") & lateral acceleration 
proportioning valve (Bentley p.47.8 calls it "brake pressure limiting 
valve) with an ajustable proportioning valve?  (on a type 44 chassis)

It seems to me this would be simpler and much more effective....
