Hmm. Sounds like they tackled the problem in the right way. Since there's
plenty of pressure to get air in through the grille, why not try and make
it easier for air to leave the compartment...though I'm not sure where the
big hangup is airflow-wise. One would think there's tons of space between
the engine and firewall for air to make it out under the car.

do you mean the inlet tract for air to the IC, or turbo->IC->throttle body
length?

On the 200q, the path is quite long. The feed from the turbo goes under
the IC, hooks into the IC on the driver's side, goes through the IC, comes
out pass side, goes up along the side of the engine(right by the exhaust
and hot block, ugh!), along the back of the engine compartment, finally to
the throttle at the back center of the compartment. Damn long feed.

Where's the sport one located?

What's the RS2 IC look like? Single-pass, like the 200q20v? If you
wouldn't mind, I'd be interested in the rough dimensions(ballpark figure or
quick ruler measurements would be neat.)

Audi managed to improve the IC design as time went on; they did when they
went from the 10v to the 20v. One wonders if more improvements were made
with the S and then the RS2 cars.

Airflow doesn't have to be high for an IC to work; according to Spearco's
guides, 20mph is _more_ than plenty for any IC.

PS:discovered a cheap(no cost) alternative to IC sprayer systems. Grab
garden hose. Spray IC soaking wet. Jump in car, wheheheheheee for about
5-10 minutes :)
PPS: my sympothy to all texas listers. It's got to be getting a little bit
hot between the 100 degree weather and the power failures from everyone
buying fans+air conditioners and using them non-stop...
