Forgot to mention another common problem - injector cooling fan not
working. Easy to hear after a long hot run. If it doesn't run, the
temperatures under there get nearly hot enough to melt lead. Causes
the same problem (but usually without the 'pop').

In my experience ('83 UrQ), the injector cooling fan is a complete waste
of electron$. I disconnected mine, and in the middle of Central California
summer heat (Sunny 100F and up), it made no difference at all.

Good injectors did. A working Hot Start Pulse Relay makes a *world* of
difference. A lower-temp thermostat (and removing that silly aux radiator)
makes a world of difference. The injector cooling fan (and related wiring
and plumbing) just gets in the way.

YMMV, Natch!
