RE: non-audi jeep advice
Twain,
I must agree. If the only motivation is to avoid piling miles on the A4
while commuting on the highway, a Jeep just isn't a good choice for many
reasons, including but not limited to: comfort (ride, noise), safety (going,
stopping, turning, rolling over), and economy (mpg, repairs, tires,
insurance).
No matter what scenario is chosen to argue the point, a Jeep has a higher
CofG and will be more likely to rollover. You may understand this and drive
in such a manner as to avoid rolling over, but it is _still_ more likely to
roll over. For instance, you are driving along legally minding your own
business and someone plows into you and sends you spinning out of control.
You hit a rut or a curb or a lower car like a Honda or a Triumph Spitfire.
You will be more likely to roll over than if you were in a 4kq (for instance
;-)).
Back to the original statement. IF the _only_ motivation is to avoid
putting more miles on the A4 while commuting, then a much better choice
would be a CGT or 4kq. These have proven to be much less daunting to
maintain, they have proven to be quite safe in accidents, they will be much
less likely to rollover, they are Audi's ;-), the 4kq would be much more at
home in power slide through mud bogs than your A4 Avant ( I still can't
believe you actually _did_ that to your new car), they are cheaper to
acquire, they are Audi's, and we won't secretly snicker behind your back
that you own a Jeep :-)....
Besides, they are Audi's...
Just my 22 cents worth..
