Really takes me back.... I was 16 in 1981... driving along a
country road near Boone, NC.  As always, I scanned car lots
as I passed.  (Never knew when somebody would let you
drive a V8 Monza, an old Nova SS, or a rusty MG...)

This car lot....   2 Vegas, a Fiesta, a Vette (Chev-, not Cor-), 
a Granada, a Porsche 928, a Pinto.... what the hey!?

Stopped dead in the road!  Went in to talk to the guy. Asked 
about the Vega's.  "Either one for $400."  The Fiesta was pricey
at a grand.  The Chevette was $900.  The 1978 Porsche?  "$30,000".   

It was there on consignment.  He even let me drive it, 
knowing full well I couldn't afford it.  (Heck, I can't afford it
today!) Monza's just didn't quite do it for me after that...

hey dave:  while I have deep respect for Landcruisers...
and am a firm believer in using vehicles for their intended purposes...
