Mine was meant only to better inform myself, not criticize.  I have a 1990
CQ and yes there is a 1991 CQ as well.  I actually know the S2 wasn't
imported here, but was instead trying to understand what cars these folks
are talking about.  The CQ's (NA) did not have the 1 piece hood/grill as a
stock item, but I've seen numerous examples of them fitted to these cars. 
We have to remember, these cars are basically the same thing except the S2
has the 20v turbo motor.  I believe the S2 also has 5 stud hubs (which may
just be the same parts from a 200t) but I speculate that the CQ has the
larger wheel bearing that would allow a US mkt car to be upgraded on hubs
as well.  Don't know the other differences, but do have specs on both cars
from numerous magazine articles from various magazines.  Be happy to pass
these on to anyone that would like to see them.  

So the question could be 'If I have a 1990 CQ and drop in a 20v turbo motor
and replace the hubs, do I in fact have an S2?'.

Comments?  I don't know, maybe no one really cares what we call them.

Well it seems I've started somthing here.  
I was not aware that S2's were not imported.
I have heard about them.  I've never seen one before.
That is part of the reason I took the 1 hour drive to check 
this car out.  I knew the dealer would be closed.
But I figured that I would at least be able to look this 
thing over with out a shadow.  

The car has an S2 badge on the gril.  I assumed it was in
fact an S2.  I could be wrong.  It looked like a CQ.
Except for the hood.  The gril was part of the hood.  Like the S4's
and other "newer" Audis I've seen.  I have never seen a car like this 
before.   I dunno were CQ's imperted in 91?  Was the gril and hood a 
one piece unit? If so maybe somone got an S2 badge and stuck it on 
thier CQ.
