Re: NorCal Audi Event Write-up

I, for one had a great time -- thanks to the A4 crowd for being friendly
to us crusty q-listers!

Highlights:

One of the gang (Mark Franklin -- did I get the name right?) gave me a
ride in his Wetterauer chipped 1.8T. Very impressive, and made me revise
my previous opinion of the engine (I had driven an early stock
1.8T/auto, and was unimpressed by sound and feel). This car could quite
possibly give my '91 200Q a run for the money! Maybe it's time to call
Ned ..

The drive to Half Moon Bay was picturesque, but other traffic made for a
minimum of .. how shall I put it ... driving with verve. (Whose road
do they think it is, anyway? :-)) Had many people wave and holler
"Audi!" at us. Sure seems like A4's don't suffer from the anonymity
that the rest of complain about!

Spoke to Derek Daily only briefly, before I charged off behind the
departing motorcade. Too bad .. I wanted to check out his CQ.

Followed one of the A4 gang home (sorry, I didn't get your name), and
had some small amount of fun on the way. (So ... was that one of the
new 30-valvers? He was going pretty good, and I don't remember the old
12-valvers being quite that peppy).

Lots of nice cars, and lots of enthusiastic folks. Thanks!
