     Hello? 95A6 has S4 headlights???? Surely some mistake????
     
     Can this really be true? Unless I've stumbled headlong into the well 
     laid trap, isn't the S4 equipped with HID lamps?

Because it was only a facelift of the 1992-1994 Audi 100.  They changed it's 
name when they did the mild facelift that included new headlights (from the 
S4), clear turn signals, and new bumpers.  They may have been other subtle 
changes that I didn't notice.
     
I have also heard that 2001 is the redesign of the A4.
