I seem to recall that this is true. The idle can't really
be set directly. I will se what Mr Bentley has to say about this.

On the subject, I want to pull the ISV out of my '89 100Q, and
possibly the long hose underneath that goes toward the back of
the engine compartment. They need to be cleaned and checked for
leaks.  Any BTDT's?

I assume that unplugging the ISV on this car should make the idle
stumble and possibly die. Doing it on mine has no effect on the
crappy idle, or on the low RPM stumble.

I'm going to clean and diagnose everything there: ISV, idle
switch, vaccuum lines, etc.
