Actually those figures are rather conservative. We had a Porsche 935 Kremer
K3 motor that rated at 850 BHP with twin K29 turbos (MONSTROUS things), then
there was this nice big boost knob on the dash, that would give another 75
HP or so...worked great for getting past pesky Ferraris and the like on
straight aways ;-). The engines had hellacious lag down low, but once the
boost hit, you better have that steering wheel straight and your butt
planted, cuz that thing would pull like there's tomorrow =). The 956
started out making 650 BHP, then the later 962 and 962C's produced 750 BHP,
but again, they could turn up the boost pressure for passing, etc., and
really crank on some more power.

My dad did a 3.6L stroker Twin Turbo conversion on his friend's '86 3.3L 930
Turbo, and after the car was finished, it was making around 680+ BHP (again
with the nice boost knob for some extra kick). The car apparently was quite
terrifying to drive after that, as for instance if you were in third gear
doing about 60 mph, if you really stood on it, the rear end would completely
break loose. The owner was actually very scared of the car after driving it
for the first time after the conversion. Now, if you were to put that kind
of power to one of the new TT AWD 993's, that spells FUN ;-).

cya!
