Multiple valve engines

Randomly generated thoughts on a Friday at work . . . . .

OK, there is the I5 engine at 2.3 liters that came with
a 10 or 20 valve head.

And, there is the V6 engine at 2.8 liters with either
12 or 30 valve heads.

So, Audi is pretty good at making 2, 4, and 5 valve per
cylinder heads.

At present there is a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder turbo in the A4.
(2 valves per cylinder?)

So if you divide 2.3 by 5, you get approximately 0.46
liters per cylinder. Multiply 0.46 by 4 and you get 1.84
liters. So the 1.8L 4 cyl is somewhat like the I5 with one
cylinder chopped off.

Here's my thought. I wonder if they could produce a
4 or 5 valve per cylinder head for the 1.8L I4 currently
available in the A4. Personally I think the 5 valve per
cylinder setup would be pretty cool, especially with the
turbo and an aftermarket chip.

Just some food for thought.
