Trip computer weirdness-87.5 Coupe GT

Hi gang,

While troubleshooting the digital instrument cluster on why the trip
computer only registers 15.6 avg (or 0!) MPG, I discovered that the wires
for the enrichment signal (black/red, pin 23) and the  voltage reference to
the mass airflow pot (yellow/black, pin 10) are completely missing.  Not
cut, not miswired, simply NOT there!  Also the signal from the air sensor
pot (green) was connected to pin 3 and not to pin 29 per Bentley.  No
wonder the darn thing doesn't work.  Normally I could ignore the MPG, but
the trip computer thinks the MPG's so low its miscalculating the range to
empty and flashing the low gas level signal to me even with half a tank.

BTW, the procedure to get into range calibration and avg MPG consumption
factor doesn't work with my IC.  Published procedute is to hold the reset
button down and turn the key on and that sets up the IC for cal mode, but I
can't get it to stay in this condition before it resets to normal display.
Everything else is working though.
