RE: Accel.cable snaps...



The replacement comes with the sleeve.  It is really a pretty simple job to
replace ... I adjust the cable so that the gas pedal touches the stop right
as the throttle body hits the WOT stop.  I think the most important thing is
to ensure that there isn't a lot of tension in the cable at WOT ... I didn't
notice it before the cable broke, but I'm pretty sure that's what led to the
old cable's demise ...

BTW, if you need to use the car before the replacement cable is available I
was actually able to effect a temporary fix by using a small hose clamp to
attach the stump of the end of the cable to the ball joint that attaches the
cruise control actuator rod to its connestion on the throttle body.  It
takes some work to get it to the point where it is smooth, but it does allow
the car to get away under its own power ...
