Shane- My 90 V8 has orange posts mounted to the floor which mate up with two
holes in the mats on the aft ends. The orange posts look like they are
phillips screws, and the holes in the mats have a metal black ring around
them. On the round metal grate, I don't know its purpose, or if you can safely
remove it, but I have found large pieces of debris on it  which was prevented
from going further. somehow insects have found a way in. HTH
