V8Q Coded Radios
Just got off the phone with the Audi Wholesale parts
man at a local dealership. According to the Audi
literature, the Bose Delta Radio was both Hard
and Soft coded, and the replacement radio can
be ordered either hard of soft coded. The early
1990 V8Q's had the soft coded radio, and the
late 1990 and 1991 V8Q's had the hard coded
Radio.
To the lister who posted about his V8Q's radio,
follow the instructions for programming the
radio, and as someone else mentioned, put in
the code 1111. Sometimes it takes one or two
tries. If it's an earlier radio (as apparently
my V8Q radio was, since I did unlock it with
the code) or a soft coded replacement you
should be all set. If not, it's still only
$85 for a rebuilt unit at the dealer. As another
lister mentioned, it's very simple to pull it out,
if the dealer is very far from you, call him and
do the exchange via UPS or some other package service.
