They are leather in my '89 100Q and my '90 90Q, so I assume they
are leather in yours, too.

12Volts. Turbos tend to be harder to start. Several/many seconds of
cranking are usually required.

Do you know how to pull up the climate control diagnostics? Hold
down the "outside temp" button and push "off". You should get a
display that looks like '01, for channel 1. Push the warmer button
to get to channel 17, and push "outside temp" to get the display.
If a single dot is lit, the compressor is on. If other segments
are lit, the compressor is off for some reason. Let me know which
segments and I will look them up for you.

Yes it is, quite concisely. Turn the heater to "warm" to open the
heater core valve, then drop one of the lower hoses.
