Locks - no unlock

My driver door lock (87 5kcsTQ) will lock all doors, but won't unlock others
when using the key. When this happens, I re-lock it with the key, then use the
pass side to unlock all doors. Sitting in dr seat, if I use the "stick," all
doors lock/unlock OK. Poked around inside the door panel, all the rods appear
connected. This came on gradually over the past month, twisting and holding
the key in the unlock position would sometimes coax the system to work.

Any ideas?
