Eurolights finally (2).....

Having installed the Eurolights monday morning, I had spent the last few
days camping up in the Adirondacks. I returned today and *finally* had a
chance to check out the improvement.

First impression... "Hello! I can see!!! I can see!!!"

Second impression...."Wait a minute, one of my headlights is pointing at
the ground..."

Ten minutes later (had to find a screwdriver and remove that damn plastic
cover over the driver side), after a quick flip down of the vertical
adjustment lever...

Third impression......." I can REALLY see."

What an improvement. Over the last few days I had time to ponder whether it
was worth $300 to have the Eurolights. I could just have run around with my
highbeams on all the time, nobobdy noticed anyway....
But this was far better than the absolutely scattered light of the dot
lights. Next to the suspension, and the chip, and the bomb... this was an
improvement I felt was worth every dime spent on it.

Of course, money spent per unit of satisfaction is going to be a function
of how much money one has to spend....

Let's just say that the $300 was a big chunk out of my recently
unemployed-student wallet.

Easily worth it the first time I miss a deer because I could see it, not
just because of luck. Or maybe even if I avoid hitting a rock, bottle,
bunny, etc.

Now back to the lights themselves. I drove around until I found a spot
where I could "aim" the headlights better. I pulled up to a lined brick
wall with level asphalt in front of it. After fiddling with the lights a
bit I evened 'em up even more. I was quite curious as to the shape of the
light pattern on the wall. It cast a triangular shape... say....20:60:100,
with the 20 degree angle on the left and the thick part of the triangle on
the right. Two triangles to be better at describing the pattern. This was
only on low beam. I'm assuming that this is to direct more light to the
shoulder and away from opposing traffic.

Good deal...I'm happy tonight.

I'm leaving for DC tommorow morning, so once again sorry about the delayed
responses. I owe some people a thanks for the clutch pedal advice, and it
will have to wait until next week.
