5k/100/200 under hood/bonnet windshield washer grommet part #'s
Hi fellow Audinauts,
Mark Pollan shamed me yesterday when he beat me to the punch with the
later model quattro rear bushing part numbers. Nice work, Mark:-) I've been out
of the country and off the list for a while, but I can pass along the proper
part numbers for the "pass through" and "end of the line" grommets for the
windscreen washer system on the later model type 44 sedans. Even after
attempted repairs mine were squirting more fluid under the hood than they were
on the glass. I got them from Lynda at Carlsen's for about $1.30 each; they
could probably be had at any VW dealer for about the same. The numbers are:
443 955 837 and 898 955 837. I can no longer tell you which is which, but one
passes the water through itself on the way to the other which "dead ends" in
front of the driver...at least on left-hand drive vehicles.
Also, I only got 66 months out of the 42 month Interstate battery my
car had when I bought it. The best service I've ever gotten from a battery...
must be something about keeping it under the rear seat. I replaced it with a
Champion International I found at Sam's Club for $42.00. There was some
question about whether or not this battery(#41-2) would fit under the seat of
the 5kCSQ...fits like a glove:-) 810 advertised cranking amps at 32F. 670 at
0F. It was dimensionally about 1/3 larger lengthwise than the Interstate. Spins
ol' "White Fang" over quite smartly...ready, yet again, to answer the call of
the wild....AuUUDDII:-) I'd been thinkin' Optima, but for $42.00...and I can't
remember if that was before or after the $5.00 core rebate.
Oh well, that's about all I've learned about these cars since the last
time I posted. Anything new on the "go faster" front...new ECU technology,
turbo tricks, dump/pop-off valves??? Enquiring minds want to know!!!
Happy motoring,
Shef
P.S. I think my cat. is melting down; strange noises at exactly 2050 rpms:-(
