Re: knock sensor and "consumer vehicle" search ended in a QUATTRO
Andrei :
The lure of "quattro" got ya ........
in no particular order some answers to your questions.....
a. If you are doing the timing belt, then also do the tensioner pulley and
water pump at the same time. I also have an 80/90 with the 10V 5cyl engine and
the front end of the car is very tight....save your labor dollars and give
yourself peace of mind. I also would recommend a complete flush of the coolant
at the same time. I refilled mine with DEX-COOL even though I have used WATER
WETTER in the past.
b. I run synthetic Mobil1 in my car..(145k miles) and as often as I change oil
it could any type of good oil and it still wouldn't matter....I burn a quart
every 2500-3000 miles. Many on the list would disagree but I choose synth
cause it makes me feel better..... I change the oil every 3500 - 4000 miles
also.
c. Knock sensor ? timing ? first thing I would do is check the computer and
pull error codes that should get you to the source of the problem. I also have
a Bentley manual for the car and it lists the codes. If you do your own
work..I would get the Bentley book.
d. My 90 is pretty stiff.......so I am not sure what to say about your
suspension questions....pretty subjective over e-mail anyways.....
good luck with your purchase....
