Crankcase vent hose,87 5ktq
I need to replace the molded rubber hose (maybe 9 inches long) on the
driver side of the engine, about the level of cylinder #4-5. OD about an
inch and a half at the bottom and about an inch at the top. Roughly the
shape of a lazy "S." I think it is a breather hose that ventilates the
crankcase, because it runs from the lower block to a metal pipe that
connects into the intake manifold about the level of the ISV. Can't find a
picture of it anywhere in my Bentley.
It has Audi part # 0341032210 molded into the rubber. And it looks very
expensive. Since it is Sunday, I can't ask my Audi parts man. Past
experience puts it over $50.
Has anyone devised a low cost replacement that will connect between the two
metal openings of different size?
I scrounged the archives for an hour and couldn't find any details. I guess
the replacement should be oil resistant and should consist of two hose
sizes and a reducer coupling. Would PCV or vinyl couplers stand up to heat
and oil? Or would a copper tubing reducer be better? Sure it would.
Any BTDT will be appreciated.
