Clunk in Clutch - "86 5000 Quattro

	My clutch has a distinct clunk when the pedal is let out that can be
avoided only with the most careful and gentle of feathering. The center
support or carrier bearing for the propeller shaft is worn out, which may
be the problem but I am not sure. Audi parts people say they sell only the
shaft and the support bearing as a unit and it is expensive. One parts guy
on the west coast says he thinks there's someone in the midwest who
manufactures only the support bearing but I haven't found him.
	Ant thoughts on whether this is the problem (it's a pretty new clutch
replaced about 5000 miles ago) and where to get the part?
