Actually, they were sucking up because Apple (actually Steve Jobs at this 
point) had MS over a barrel due to some copyright infringement.  It turns 
out that MS had taken (stole) a lare amount of apple technology and apple 
has been in court with them for a long time now.  Steve took that 
opportunity to say to Gates that he wanted MS's full support and blah 
blah blah...you have this situation now.

BTW, there are now over 350,000 pre-orders for the new iMAC....an Apple 
record and most likely and INDUSTRY wide record as well....
