RE: bmw "ultimate drive"
i did something similar with audi here in nz. involved a whole range of
audi models, and some bmw's and jags for comparison. had the 3-series
and the 7-series beemers. a disparate group of owners were there
including c36, 911 and beemer pilots.
the wet corner taken at 100km/hr with mid corner lift creating spin in
the beemer and jag versus the settled behaviour of the s6 did a lot to
convince the skeptics of some of the benefits of quattro.
a later slalom course with the 3 series representing rwd cars, and fwd
and awd audis completed the picture. audi made some more sales.
was a great day, enjoued by all, and has been held over a dozen times
over the last 2 years by the nz audi importer. once again, it seems
that a lot of perception (or lack thereof) is created by you friendly
local dealer/importer.
