Intervals.
There isn't a fan belt exactly; the timing belt drives the cams and the
water pump, and the serpentine belt drives the power steering pump,
alternator, and A/C compressor. You might as well change it if it's
off.
For the timing belt, Audi doesn't actually say when to replace it, only
to check it every 30K miles and see if it looks OK. I would definitely
replace it at 60K miles. Go ahead and replace the water pump too; if it
doesn't need it now it will need it soon.
