Re: Subject: Re: S4/S6 model year differences

For my US '93 S4 from left to right...

coolant temp, tach, speedo, fuel level, clock, oil temp, oil press.
(Under climate control head I've installed: Vacuum/Boost gauge, Voltmeter)

Somewhere after '93 and before '95 model year S4 / S6 came with...

coolant temp, tach, speedo, fuel level, clock, oil temp, voltmeter. On the
S6 these were surrounded by a silver bezel.

The dash is one of the things I love about this car. Smooth flowing, long,
well laid out. It is reminiscent of a pre 1999 911 dash which I feel is the
best design of all time, what with the extra large pizza size tachometer
right there in your face.

As an aside, I absolutely can not stand the 996 dash configuration. I will
never buy this vehicle based on the cheesy overlapping gauges. It is
passable on the Boxster, but only slightly.

The S4 gauge layout even leaves a little extra room between the fuel level
and clock to account for the rim of the steering wheel blocking your view.

I tried to match my auxiliary gauges to the main ones but I was unable to.
They are not white but an extremely light gray. I went with black auxiliary
gauges and they match very well at night (mit red bulb condoms).
