Tell ya what, guys, the parts mentioned are among the most trouble-prone of
all on our much-beloved but not terrifically reliable type 44s.

If I had the option, I'd gladly order the manual crank sunroof and the
three-dial manual climate control instead of the GM abortion that I have
spent probably $700 on over the past year and it still isn't worth a damn.
Why is it that every crummy Toyota Corolla and even my wife's Mazda 323
(the personification of "cheap car") has a better air conditioner than my
fine German high priced, high quality sports sedan????? The Mazda cost
$7,000 in 1991, the Audi cost $33,500 in 1986 - what's wrong with this
picture?

Ask me about climate controller boxes, chintzy little motors with plastic
gears, leaky seals on compressors, broken flap actuators you simply cannot
get to, and once it is all done, it isn't very cold and makes the car run
like an absolute SLUG. I am NOT impressed by this, and I am NOT amused by
it either. Summer is almost over, thank God.

What you don't have, you can't break. What you can't break, you don't have
to replace.

P.O.ed this morning, so don't take it personally . . .
