AC Hose from back of Accumulator '89 90Q

After running the ac diag codes, I found that I had low pressure. When I
took it to recharge the freon, the mech. did a pressure check and found that
the hose from the accumulator to the fire wall had a hole in it from
wear(118K). It appears to be a metal hose. He said he could fix it for $140
or get the part for $240. Bently is very weak on the ac hoses so I don't
know the exact name for the hose.

Has anyone seen this prob before?
Is there a good source for this hose?
Would a repaired hose be ok?
How many things do I have to remove to change it -ie how big a pain is it?

Sweating,
