Agreed. The A/C system on my 5KT puts a lot of cold air, though I've never
recharged it (at it is almost 4 years since I bought the car). I've never
seen any other car of this vintage having so reliable A/C system. I've
never had any electrical problem as well except the compressor will
occasionally quit working and engage again when I hit a bump or exit the
car and wiggle the wires in the plenum chamber. A poor contact somewhere,
it seems. We have to remember that because of their ultra-aerodynamic
shape, 44 chassis cars are particularly prone to have their interior warmed
by sun. Soon after first 44 chassis cars were sold in Germany in 1982, they
were announced "the fastest sauna in the world". The A/C system will put
lots of freezing air, but even this sometimes isn't enough on particularly
sunny day.
