My wife's 1988 Audi 90 4 cylinder (80 with leather!) has broken
its heater core inlet tubes, where they connect to the rubber hose
at the firewall.  The heater core is made of that famous plastic
we all love and respect.......

Anyone ever change a heater core in their 88-80, or 90?

I've found a replacement from IPC for $69.

Are the built in a more durable "metal-like" material, vise plastic? 

Seeking some "pre-wisdom" before I jump feet first into
the job!
