Bucksnort 5K strut cart change primer

<<Just out of curiosity, how do you do that job with the strut on the car?>>

	Fairly simple process.

1) Jack car up slightly. This is to take the pressure off the top of the
strut. Raise hood, decide which side is to be the guinea pig. As a safety
measure, make sure the parking brake is on.
2) Take the large nut off the top of the cartridge. (You can use an air gun
to take it off, since the carts are hot anyway. DO NOT use an air gun to
replace it.)
3) Mark the location of and loosen the three nuts (13mm, I think) closest to
the shaft of the cart. These are the three nuts that hold the black slotted
piece in place. The slotted piece adjusts wheel alignment, that's why you
want to mark it first. (Unless you just want to spring for a front end
alignment for the fun of it.)
4) Remove the rubber doughnut and two washers. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THEM IN
THEIR RESPECTIVE PLACES!
5) Use the pliers (or tool if you have it) to reach through the spring and
remove the large nut holding the cart in place. (Adjust car height on jack to
facilitate this.)
6) Pull the cart, nut, rubber boot, and anything else that might be attached,
through the top of the strut. (This may require wiggling the wheel/strut to
accomplish. That's one of the reasons you put the parking brake on.)
7) Clean any oil, trash, insects, and/or small animals out of the cartridge
housing.

For reassemble, start at item 6) and work backwards. (PLEASE don't reverse
item 7)

The first time you do it, it will probably take an hour per side. We've got
it down to about 15 minutes/side now. See my post to Daniel Grady for
additional comments.
