Should I contact AoA
I recently purchased a pre-owned 1996 A6 with 37K miles to replace my
1990 Audi 200 with 151K miles. The 96 A6 was originally delivered on
8/30/96, so it has approximately 1 year left on the 3yr/50K warranty.
The first thing I noticed when looking at the car was the excessive
amount of leather wear on the driver's seat. I asked the owner of the
car about it and he said he had taken the car to the dealer on 2 separate
occasions to complain. The first time he complained was at the 15K mile
maintenance and then again at the 22.5K maintenance. He produced service
records indicating he had done so. The receipts stated that the service
manager felt that the wear was normal and the service manager did not
offer to replace the leather.
I compared the leather on my 1990 200 and it is clear that the leather on
my 1990 Audi 200 is in much better shape than the leather in a car that
is 6 newer and has 110K less miles.
More information:
This is my 3rd Audi. I have taken my previous 2 Audis religiously to Don
Rosen Imports in Conshohocken, PA for service. I am a loyal Audi
customer who keeps buying their product. My second Audi was purchased
new at Don Rosen Imports. Ironically enough, this pre-owned Audi that I
just purchased was originally purchased at Don Rosen as well, although
the owners had it serviced at Cherry Hill Imports. It was Cherry Hill
Imports who refused to replace the leather.
Being that the car is under warranty, coupled with the fact that this
problem was complained about previously with documentation to prove it,
what would the list members advise me to do.
Your advice is appreciated.

Ken Gorman
